  • Design (The website could do with a little bit of a “jazz up” to make it more welcoming – think warmer colours…)
  • Code (Meta tags need optimising correctly, click here to see yours and any other website you want to evaluate. Use Header tags correctly in your coded text H1, H2 etc)
  • Text content (Get writing – ALL search engines need keyword rich text content sources for search queries. Think of keywords and add them into your new text)
  • Extra Pages: Text content is the single most important criteria for search engines. The www.anonymous.ch website needs LOTS more text. Think about adding the following pages and categories:

history

about us (meet the team)
news (interviews with important people, dates, events, latest videos)
helpful links (friends, sponsers and contacts of Stage School)
Press/media information (all the newspapers and magazine articles about you)
Virtual tours (the stage school venue with you welcoming new website visitors in a video)
Copy and paste the following into Google to see how many pages Google has indexed for your site: site:www.websitename.ch (change the URL to see other site information)
  • Calls to action: Interaction with new website visitors, keep them on the site, let them send it to their friends, get their contact details and their views.

  • Picasaweb: Add images from the gallery, get images indexed in Google Image Search, get slideshows for other internet promotion
  • Google Maps: Make the Stage school Google world, use on contact page for directions
  • Google Local Business Listing: Get listed officially on the business lists on Google Maps and show in these searches
  • Google Base: List all your work with links all over
  • Google Video: Upload videos on Google
  • Google Sites: Build a Google mini website, hosted FOC from Google and have yet another backlink with content you control
  • Blogger Blogspot: See below (Blogs)
  • Google Adwords: For the days leading up to events or for overnight clicks and enquiries. Pay per click, set budgets for keywords, clicks – does cost you but can be good for quick results as Google takes between 6 weeks and 3 months to index new text content on your website
  • Google Adsense: Earn money from adverts to other sites from your Blogs – you get paid per click from Google

Blogs:
Show a more personal side to the Stage School organisation. Guest Blogs from the teachers and other dancers, views, news, events. Get cool backlinks to all your other internet work with content that you control. Just like the main websites news pages but much more informal.

Social networking:
The social network website market is BIG, so use the same tools that most young people use and visit every day online. Set up accounts, post bulletins, make friends, start and join groups, share and post videos, Blogs and Podcasts and promote you and your events on hugely visited internet platforms.

  • Videos and video sharing websites: (Youtube, Google video, Yahoo video, MSN video, Dailymotion. Set up your own pages, linking back to the main website and upload videos) Click here for example

  • PR websites (Post press releases with backlinks)
  • Internet TV (set up your own accounts and channels with Sopcast, Justin.tv and others and stream the dance studios live with an invite and special login. Promote this with all the newsletters, Blogs etc and let people in Japan or other faraway places watch what you are doing!)

General SEM:

Notes and other information:

  • Increase reputation as well as website traffic
  • The internet is the best form of promotion
  • The larger an internet presence the more traffic and interest generated
  • Be the first dance studio to use ALL the above mentioned marketing tools
  • Text content and backlinks are really important for Google – a regular flow is needed
  • Tap into a potentially HUGE market properly and generate interest for your courses and events on a whole new level
  • Google needs between 6 weeks and 3 months on average to index new site content
  • Remember to NEVER copy text directly from other websites and use yourself – Google punishes for this!
  • Use your competitions websites to get good ideas

Your “To Do” List:

  • Write new website page text full with your keywords (list all the search terms you want to be found for in Google and use these keywords in your text)
  • Write introduction Blog posts (nice and personal and up close – your Blogs are a more personal, cooler platform so clients and potential clients can get to know you better)
  • Write advert text (short and sweet – just like a newspaper or magazine advert)
  • Write your press release (VERY promotional text)
  • Think about a factual post (read other Wiki’s and factual articles about the dance industry to get ideas and see the style of factual writing)
  • Get taking pictures with the camera and searching for images you can use in your gallery
  • Get filming videos
  • Prepare your newsletter mail out and gather together the email addresses you have now on an Exel spreadsheet
  • Set aside at least an hour every month to write new text content for your websites News pages, your Blogs and new adverts
  • Keep an eye on what the competition are doing with their websites and where they are in Google
